A Visit To Hell
By Robert Czaplinsky
Struggles around the world continue to mount. All eyes have been on Israel and Hamas as they do battle over the real estate known as the Gaza Strip. Death and destruction continue to display its ugly face as both soldiers, civilians, children die on both sides of the conflict. Interestingly enough, a passageway into Israel has been named Armageddon Valley, the place where some believe that an end times battle will occur between the great armies existing on the earth. What is it that makes Muslim and Jews have such a need to destroy each other? Why is it that they fight? The answer has to do with property. Both the Jewish and Muslim faith believe that the real estate in Israel is the most holy of land for both religions. Both sides are more than willing to die in order to protect this most precious of land.
While this particular section of real estate is important to both Jews and Muslim, other local real estate has caught the eye of the superpowers existing on our planet. These large nations, supported by armies with high-tech weaponry, have their eye on the oil fields existing in Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc. At this time, these powerful nations choose to simply purchase the fossil fuel that exists in their ground. As the supply runs short, this fuel supply will become even more vital and will signal a need to protect the remaining fuel. It is likely that wars will occur, with both sides believing that the fuel is an excellent reason to fight. The greatest issue that now exists is nuclear weapons and chemical warfare. With so many 3rd world countries having possession of nuclear bombs and weapons of mass destruction (poison gas, dirty bombs, designer diseases and sicknesses), it appears we will soon see these weapons being used in the name of protecting these existing fuel sources from being taken by other aggressive nations.
Interestingly enough, this would then place large armies in one of the most volatile places on the earth. Any nation controlling this vast source of fuel would certainly have advantages that few other nations could match. Are we yet facing a time when the leaders of our great nations would be willing to sacrifice countless lives in order to have control of this land? Could it be that oil will soon become more precious than gold?
The world economy is struggling greatly. At first, people will simply fear the unknown; losing their job, home, and failing to provide food for their families. After the fear passes, desperate and hungry people are ready to fight. Death begins to appear as a better solution than watching the ones you love die a little more each day. When enough people feel this way, war is inevitable! Will this be the war that brings nuclear destruction to our planet?
Scripture tells us from the book of Genesis that God promised man that the earth would no longer be destroyed by flood. Scripture tells us that the rainbow is the sign that God has sent us to help us remember this covenant. Is fire going to be the next means of destruction? If we simply look around at the events of our world today, fire does seem to be a possibility. Will the next big world conflict become a visit to hell? Only time will tell.
