THE LORD’S PRAYER Part 3 (WHICH ART IN HEAVEN)
As we said in part one The Lord’s Prayer is a complete teaching that will bring you into a fullness of what God has for you through prayer and into a fullness of the things of God in your life. In part two we see the building of an intimate personal relationship with God as our Father / Daddy. We are His children in His family. In part three we will see the kingdom of God and how this relates to us. Let us look at the Lord’s Prayer.
Matt 6:9-13
(9) After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
(10) Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
(11) Give us this day our daily bread.
(12) And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
(13) And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
When we pray Our Father which art in heaven this gives us a picture that He is God, the Creator, and He is in heaven. We see heaven as a place that is far away, that God is way up there somewhere in this place we call heaven. It is the place that God dwells. It is a perfect place, with no sickness or disease or poverty, a place of perfect peace and joy with no lack or want of any kind. This is the place we hope to go to when we die. What is your picture of heaven ? Does it resemble the picture I just gave or do you have a slightly different picture in mind when you think of heaven.
Rev 21:1-4
(1) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
(2) And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
(3) And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
(4) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
1 Thess 5:9-11
(9) For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
(10) Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
(11) Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
John 14:2-3
(2) In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
(3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
When you consider heaven or when you pray The Lord’s Prayer and say “ which art in heaven “ do you think of God in this wonderful place and it’s so far away and you are trying to get God to hear your prayer ? Do you bow your head in reverence and at other times find yourself looking up because you are looking to heaven to where God is ? I find myself doing this at times. It seems to be the right thing to do and I believe it is. I believe this is another leading of the Holy Spirit and being led by the Spirit and sensitive to the Holy Spirit has been one of my major objectives in my relationship with God. So, when praying “ which art in heaven “ do you feel that God is so far away ?
Well have I got good news for you ! Heaven isn’t so far away from you at all. At the mention of His name, the name of Jesus, you are being heard by all of heaven. God dwells in heaven, but He also dwells in you.
Rom 8:9
(9) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Rom 8:11
(11) But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
1 John 4:13
(13) Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
2 Cor 6:16
(16) And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Now as you consider God dwelling in heaven and also in you it places the perfection of heaven, all its wonder and blessing that close to you. Is it any wonder that God has promised us healing. With no sickness or disease in heaven and with God dwelling in you, you are that close to the healing of heaven. God has promised to provide for all our needs, there is no lack in heaven. You are that close to God’s provisions for your life.
Ps 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Consider that the God of heaven is dwelling in you by His Spirit and all the provision of heaven is within you. Let me ask you this question.
If you where an ambassador for a country and you were sent to an impoverished and sickly country wouldn’t you still have the abundance of your country available to you while you where in that other poor nation ? Consider what the Apostle Paul says.
Eph 6:20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Paul refers to himself as an ambassador and says we are a chosen generation, a holy nation, a peculiar people. We are of heaven and the God of heaven is in us by His Spirit.
Luke 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Our Heavenly Father who dwells in us and says that the kingdom of heaven in within us has closed the gap, or the distance that seemed to be between us and has brought all that heaven has to offer and placed it within our reach for this life and not until after we die. As we proceed further with The Lord’s Prayer through meditating and prayer it will bring us into this revelation and experience of these scriptures.
Instead of trying to reach God so far away in heaven we can come with an understanding that He is right here with us and with everything we have need of so readily available, but it is through faith that it will be made manifest. That is why we meditate and continue in prayer using The Lord’s Prayer over and over. This is what causes faith to come and the realization and manifestation of these scriptures. Just reading this article and you agreeing with it will not be enough to spark faith in you. You will have to pursue these ideas diligently until faith manifests as it says in :
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
If you will seek God for the abundance of what is in The Lord’s Prayer you will be able to live it rather than have a prayer to recite. God wants to show Himself strong to those who will seek Him, to find that intimate and close relationship with Him and you.
Our Father which art in heaven is here with us also.
GOD LOVES YOU
If you haven’t made Jesus Christ your Lord and Saviour I would like to encourage you to do so. ( Romans 10:13 ) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Pray this prayer God in heaven, I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God and that he died for my sin and was raised on the third day. I repent of my sins and receive Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Lord Jesus come into my heart and make me a child of God. Thank You Lord. Amen. Note: All scripture references are from the King James Bible
